Child and Adolescent Counseling
Sometimes children and adolescents need a safe haven and empathetic ear to help ease the difficulties life can bring. We strive to help our clients focus on working toward an optimistic future, while learning positive coping methods and building self-confidence. Haven of Support Counseling specializes in a variety of areas including but not limited to:
Anxiety, Anger, Divorce, Death of loved one, Depression, Bullying, Self- esteem difficulties, Sexual, Emotional, and Physical abuse, and witnessing or experiencing trauma.
Individual Adult Counseling
We provide individual counseling for adults in need of guidance and support to resolve an issue, recover from an upsetting experience, explore thoughts and feelings, examine beliefs and work towards making healthy changes. Topics include, but are not limited to:
Anxiety, Attention/Hyperactivity, Crisis intervention, Depression, Eating concerns, Emotional abuse, Family life issues, Grief & Loss, Separation/Divorce, and Trauma.
Therapeutic Play Groups
Parents and Teachers express major concerns for children that lack social emotional skills. Our customized play groups focus on Social Emotional Well being of toddlers from ages 2 to 5 years old. Our groups are structured to provide learning tools for each child to gain insight about their feelings, and how to express their emotions appropriately. We teach healthy coping skills to express emotions of excitement, sadness, anger, disappointment, etc. Within our Therapeutic Play Groups, we practice feelings words and what to do with our feelings. We will learn about getting along with our peers, using our words, and age appropriate conflict resolution. This group will be a hands on group filled with songs, activities and instructional information for parents.

A graduate of Lindenwood University in 2011, I hold a Masters of Arts degree in Professional Counseling within the state of Missouri. I also earned a Bachelor’s degree from Southeast Missouri State University in Child Development, with a minor in Psychology. As a clinical therapist of 8 years, I have experience across a variety of treatment settings which include; private practice, St. Louis City and County Public Schools, Federally Qualified Health Care Centers, and Community Based Services. I have experience working with children, adolescents and adults and I am passionate about working with individuals from all diverse backgrounds. As a Licensed Counselor, it is my passion to provide each client with hope for the future through positivity and a strengths-based view. I strive to empower clients to increase their self-worth, providing opportunities to develop awareness of the problems they are facing, and gain new insights of possible solutions. I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Play Therapy, Supportive Therapy, Psychoeducation, and Solution Focused Therapy in addition to others depending on the needs of the individual.

I am a proud 2008 gradate of the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff where I obtained by Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. Determined to further my education, I achieved my Master of Arts in Counseling-Mental Health from Webster University in 2013. I have enjoyed working in the mental health field for over 12 years. I've supported clients from different ethic backgrounds and demographics which include children, adolescents and adults. In a wide range of settings, I've supported clients in an adolescent residential mental health facility, homeless shelters, private practice, in-home counseling, preschools, private and public school settings. Group work with pregnant teens, parenting education, teen support groups and child play groups are also some of my skilled work. My devotion is building on the strength of my clients to provide a safe place for release, hope, change and well being. It's important to meet my clients where they are and support their specific intellectual needs. In doing so my therapeutic approaches are client specific. Some approaches that I use include Play Therapy, Solution Focused/ Brief Strategic therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy.
